Plans for office buildings in Creve Coeur are dropped
ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH
CREVE COEUR —Delmar Gardens Enterprises is withdrawing its request for city permission to construct two office buildings south of Olive Boulevard and west of Interstate 270, John King, the company's zoning attorney, said Friday. On the City Council agenda for Monday is an agreement with Delmar Gardens that neither the company nor the city would try to rezone the site for a year. Delmar Gardens wanted to build office buildings of at least three stories on nearly six acres between St. Monica's Catholic Church and Country Manor Lane. Delmar Gardens would have removed its nursing home on the site. The proposal has been controversial because of concerns that the office buildings would intrude into a residential neighborhood and increase traffic. The company still wants to build a new nursing home on about 28 acres of the former Thompson retreat center, which is on the north side of Ladue Road west of Interstate 270, King said.
